MAMA ROSIE’S DONATES 600 POUNDS OF PASTA
TO THE GREATER BOSTON FOOD BANK’S KIDS CAFE PROGRAM

Donation from Mama Rosie’s Will Provide Children with Various
Types of Pasta on a Weekly Basis

BOSTON, MA, February 12, 2004 — The Greater Boston Food Bank announced today a commitment from Mama Rosie’s of Boston to donate 600 pounds of pasta for The Food Bank’s “Kids Cafe” after school meals programs held at various Boys & Girls Clubs in eastern Massachusetts. The Food Bank will now be able to serve Mama Rosie’s pasta every Wednesday night to hundreds of children at the Kids Cafes.

“The kids can look forward to tortellini, ravioli, lasagna and other types of pasta each week,” said Jean Comeau, The Greater Boston Food Bank’s Program Manager. “We’re always looking for food donations with nutritious value, particularly for our Kids Cafes. We’ll serve the pastas with healthy sauces and proteins like chicken or beef. A salad will make the meals complete.”

(L to R) Carol Tienken, Greater Boston Food Bank Chief Operating Officer, Brian McNulty, Mama Rosie’s President, John Cammarata, Mama Rosie’s Retail Sales Director and Volunteer Chef, Jason Milanese, of Legal Seafood, join a few kids before serving a meal of tortellini with tomato sauce and meatballs and a salad.

Mama Rosie’s made its first pasta delivery to the Gerald and Darlene Jordon Boys & Girls Club in Chelsea on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 — tri-colored tortellini, which was served with tomato sauce, meatballs and a side salad.

“We are so glad to be teamed with The Greater Boston Food Bank and the Kids Cafe program,” said John Cammarata, Director of Retails Sales, and Mama Rosie’s grandson. “To actually see the children at the Boys and Girls Club enjoying themselves makes it all worthwhile.”

The Greater Boston Food Bank receives donations from food retailers, wholesalers, and manufacturers who donate fresh foods, canned, and packaged products. The Food Bank distributes 21 million pounds of food annually to 750 pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, kids programs and senior organizations in an effort to feed the hungry in eastern Massachusetts.
